The former Greek Minister of Economy (and later Defence), Yiannos Papantoniou, and his wife Stavroula Kourakou were remanded in custody in Athens at the weekend, following a 16-hour interrogation over the alleged laundering of €2.6 million, believed to represent kickbacks from the firm given the contract to modernise several Greek navy frigates when Papantoniou was Minister of Defence (2001-2003).
