32.6 million persons aged 15 to 74 in the European Union (EU) were self-employed in 2018, according to data released today by Eurostat, the statistical service of the EU. They accounted for 14% of total employment. The share of self-employed was highest in Greece and Italy close to 30%, close to 13% in Cyprus.
