10 years of Hope for Children

It was while pursuing his master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Nicosia in 2006 that Joseph Varughese recognized that there were serious gaps in Cyprus’ child protection systems, including a lack of rehabilitation services for children and families and effective support for unaccompanied children. A year later, he formed an informal group at the university and, in 2008, founded Hope For Children. This year, the Hope For Children CRC Policy Center is marking 10 years of active presence in the field of children’s rights at a national, European and international level. Joseph Varughese, now HFC’s Director-General, spoke to GOLD about its work.
