He explained why gaining business insights is what matters most in managing and running a business. CFOs today are faced with a fundamental change of role: they “manage the business” – taking the big, upper-level strategic decisions, such as planning, budgeting and forecasting – and they “run the business” of day-to-day (or even minute-to-minute) operational decision-making, such as business unit profitability or sales and marketing.
