Cyprus is among the top ten countries in the world with the highest level of militarisation, according to a 2015 study by the German BICC research institute.
Compiled by the Bonn International Centre for Conversion (BICC), the Global Militarisation Index (GMI) presents on an annual basis the relative weight and importance of a country’s military apparatus in relation to its society as a whole.
