Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices remains stable in August compared to last year

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices in August 2025 remained stable compared with August 2024 and recorded an increase of 0.8% compared with July 2025, according to CySTAT.

Compared with August 2024, the largest positive changes were observed in the categories Restaurants and Hotels (5.3%) and Recreation and Culture (4.9%), while the largest decreases were recorded in the categories Clothing and Footwear (-7.5%) and Housing, Water Supply, Electricity and Gas (-4.0%).

Compared with July 2025, the most significant changes were noted in the categories Recreation and Culture (1.8%), Transport (1.5%) and Restaurants and Hotels (1.5%).

For the period January–August 2025, in comparison with the corresponding period of the previous year, the largest increases were registered in the categories Recreation and Culture (6.6%) and Restaurants and Hotels (5.4%), whereas the largest decrease was recorded in Clothing and Footwear (-5.9%). 

The largest change among the economic categories compared to August 2024 was recorded in the category Energy (-9.1%) and compared to July 2025 in the category Services (1.5%).
